Ugly Tony is a Hip-hop beat-maker born in the mid 1980′s. His introduction to the Hip-hop culture came at a time most consider the “Golden Era.” This era is responsible for rappers such as Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, etc. Along with these legendary rappers, is another side of artistry which is equally important; Beat-making or production. Since the albums “Enter the 36 Chambers” and “Illmatic” were made, a key emphasis has been placed on production. These two albums inspired Ugly Tony into becoming a beat-maker. He studied endlessly into the craft of production. By understanding which sounds are harmonious compared to musical bedlam, he discovered his lane for production. Initially, putting musical ideas to actual audio existence can be challenging.


However, after watching and analyzing Kev Brown make a beat on video, putting ideas to reality seemed easier. Introduced to the Fruity Loops software from observing 9th Wonder, Tony began at his attempts to make beats. At first, working with the software was difficult, but diligence would pay off in the long run. A few years after his beginning, Ugly Tony found himself creating music with ease.


In the year of 2007, Ugly Tony decided to create an album, “At Nightfall,” which he would entirely produce. To find the artist for the album was the other task. However, social networks made this mission less overwhelming. The internet allowed Tony to interact and gather support from various MCs: Copywrite, The AbSoulJah, Don K. Sen, DJ Nix’On, Robust, Termanology, Respect Tha God, IDE, Alucard, King Magnetic, Tame One amongst many more. The arrival of 2011 brought Ugly Tony to the preparation of a release for his first album. All the hard work will finally pay off, but he knows that this is only the beginning.
